Sania Mirza continued to make India proud with her 25th doubles WTA title as she partnered the legendary Martina Hingis to victory at the Miami Open Doubles event. The duo beat the second-seeded Russian pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 7-5, 6-1.
Sania’s partnership with Martina has been off to a dream start as they are yet to drop a set since teaming up. There was also a sense of deja vu in this victory as they had beaten the Russian team in the final of their first title together, the Indian Wells.
With this win, Sania is now just 145 points away from the individual doubles number one ranking. After their triumph, Sania tweeted this photo of the duo.
