Sania Mirza Slams Media For Bothering More About Her Taxes Than Her Performances

SW Staff

Sania Mirza is pretty unhappy about how the Indian media focussed on her tax issues more than her entry into the semifinals of the ongoing Qatar Open.

Mirza was issued a notice by the Central Board of Excise and Customs over allegedly evading tax on the Rs 1 crore she received from the Telangana government. However, her representative said that the money was not intended as payment towards Mirza being the state’s ambassador, but provided as a ‘training incentive’.

The media has been covering the issue extensively and Sania vented her frustrations on Twitter

Mirza and Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic entered the women’s doubles last-four stage and will take on American-Slovenian duo of Abigail Spears and Katarina Srebotnik later on Friday.
