Shikhar Dhawan scored his second century (100 off 84 balls) of the 2015 World Cup when India met Ireland on Tuesday, 10th March. The knock led him to a total of 333 runs in 5 matches and has made him the second highest scorer of the tournament so far.

Dhawan is only behind Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara who has scored 372 runs in 5 innings with 3 centuries under his belt. Dhawan scored his first century of this World Cup at Melbourne against South Africa, scoring 137 runs off 146 balls. He also managed to score 73 vital runs in India’s opener against Pakistan.

Dhawan has been maintaining a decent strike rate of 98.52 and averaging 66.00. Sangakkara’s average stands at 124.00. Third on the top run-getters list is AB de Villiers who is close behind Dhawan with 318 runs.

India’s left-handed opener will be looking to reach top spot by making the most of the final group match against Zimbabwe on Saturday, 14th March.
