The 2017 Champions Trophy final witnessed cricket’s biggest rivals taking on each other for the coveted trophy. Sarfraz Ahmed’s Pakistan side beat India by 180 runs to win their maiden title and the high-voltage generated a record-breaking 1.8 million tweets – the most for an ODI.

The sport and the tournament in general also witnessed a massive growth on the social media platform in comparison to the last edition. The usage of the official hastag (#CT17) witnessed a 4x growth as compared to 2013. Even the official ICC account saw a 4.75x growth in followers this year as compared to 2013.

The final was followed by the Indo-Pak group stage clash as the second most tweeted ODI – quashing any doubts on which was the greatest cricketing rivalry in the world.
