Southee became only the 8th pacer in World Cup history to pick up 7 wickets in a match. He finished with figures of 7/31 in 9 overs.

He now also has the best bowling figures for a New Zealander, bettering Shane Bond’s 6/19 against Australia in 2003.

Thanks also to Brendon McCullum’s batting exploits, New Zealand won the match against England by 8 wickets.

Tim Southee is now the leading wicket-taker of the 2015 WC with 11 strikes in 3 matches.
