Virender Sehwag Hosts Indian Women’s Team After Their World Cup Heroics

Indian batting great and World Cup winner Virender Sehwag on Friday shared a photograph on Twitter with the members of the Indian women’s cricketer team. The former cricketer hosted the players after they made India proud by reaching the final of the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup. India lost to England by nine runs at Lord’s. 

Sehwag was joined by Jhulan Goswami, Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurthy, Poonam Raut, Ekta Bisht and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

Star batter Harmanpreet, who smashed a career-best 171 against Australia in the semi-final thanked Sehwag for hosting the team. 

The team members have received an unprecedented media attention in India since their World Cup heroics. Rewards have also been pouring in for the players. The BCCI has announced a cash award of Rs 50 lakh for the members of the team.

Skipper Mithali Raj was recently presented a BMW car in Hyderabad, while Harmanpreet was offered the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Punjab government.
