Allah Was With Us: Eoin Morgan Pays Tribute To The Diversity Of England’s World Cup Winning Squad

Yesterday was one hell of a day in the world of sports. The ICC World Cup final between England and New Zealand kept fans hooked to their TV screens till the end.

After England registered its maiden World Cup victory, talking to media, captain Eoin Morgan said that they had Allah with them.

We had Allah with us as well. I spoke to Adil (Rashid), he said Allah was definitely with us. I said we had the rub of the green.

The English team has players belonging to different countries and Morgan said these cultural differences epitomises their team.

“We’re from quite diverse backgrounds and cultures and guys grow up in different countries. To actually find humour in the situation we were in at times was pretty cool.”
