West Indies U-19 team found the most controversial way to get into the World Cup quarterfinals as they edged past Zimbabwe in the match where they mankaded for their last victim.
Mankaded is what happens when a bowler in the act of delivering the ball stops to remove the bails seeing that the non-striker is out of its crease, derived from the infamous incident involving India’s Vinoo Mankad and Australia’s Bill Brown.
Zimbabwe needed two runs to win when WI’s Keemo Paul, bowling the final over of the match, mankaded ZIM batsman Richard Ngarava to end the match.
The act was condemned by former players including Darren Lehmann and Stephen Fleming, who found it a cheap way to win.
