What Happens If The IPL Qualifier Between KKR & Mumbai Indians Is Washed Out?

SW Staff

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir would be hoping that the clouds don’t comeback on Friday when they take the field for the second IPL 10 qualifier match against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The IPL Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and KKR was badly affected by rain and the team from Kolkata were almost on the verge of being knocked out of the tournament.

KKR’s elimination would have been a heart-breaker as they bowled brilliantly to restrict Hyderabad to 128/7 in 20 overs. But It took more than three hours for the second innings to begin due to rain after which KKR chased down the revised target of 48 from six overs.

The playoff matches don’t have a reserve day. However, the final which will take place in Hyderabad has a reserve day.

In case of Qualifier 2 being washed out, then the team that finished higher in the league stage will progress further. In such a scenario, Mumbai Indians will qualify straight to the final as they finished higher than Kolkata in the league table.
