Social media giant, Facebook, has banned the use of sexual emojis including eggplant, peach and water drips for Instagram and Facebook.
According to DailyMail, the new guidelines state that the taboo emojis can’t be used to depict sexual activity. Also, nude body parts can’t be covered up with some playful symbols.
However, after the move, Facebook has been criticized for being overly concerned about the hidden meanings of the emojis rather than the racism and propaganda that lurks on their platforms. Recently Kanye West accused the platforms of fueling sex addiction and tormenting married men.
West said in an interview to Beats1 on Apple Music,
I suffer and I appreciate the suffering because we can just feel a little bit of what Jesus felt when we suffer, but social media makes me suffer. I suffer from that and by me saying this out loud, I’m sure there are other married men that suffer in a similar way that is happy to hear me say, ‘Oh ya, I’m suffering.
Now with Facebook and Instagram’s war on sexual emojis, people will not have to worry about suggestive captions along with racy photos. However, they can still be used in captions, but not in a manner that suggests or asks for anything sexual.
