Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was speaking to an audience in Delhi as he professed his love for India and decide to prove it by narrating a couplet during the programme ‘Tech for Good, Ideas for India’.
Talking about how creativity in India can drive “poetry as well as technology” globally, Nadella quoted a poem by 19th century Urdu and Persian poet Mirza Ghalib. He said,
“Hazaaron khwaishein aisi, ke har khwaish pe dum nikle. Bohot nikle mere armaan, fir bhi kam nikle. (Thousands of aspirations such, that each aspiration takes your breath away… I had many dreams, but they still weren’t enough).”
Nadella who has compared poetry to code on many occasions, also said in the speech that, “I had only two passions that have driven my dreams – poetry and computer science.”
This is the third India visit for the Microsoft boss, who said on this occasion that the firm can help the Digital India initiative by building technology around virtual reality.
