This Homeless Horse Was Adopted By An NGO & Is Now Learning To Walk With Her New Prosthetic Limb

Your pet is the only thing that will love you unconditionally. No recriminations, no expectations, just pure unadulterated love. And silly humans that we are, we take the best things in life for granted. Animal Warriors is an organisation that tries to create a love for animals that makes you look at them as more than just four-legged beings of entertainment. And it’s this love that Bijli, a seven-year-old lively, young mare can walk again.

The treatment of prosthetics has now been extended to the animal world too. Called Krishna Limbs, Dr Tapesh Mathur is the man who worked towards the development of it. Bijli is the first of her race to have worn a prosthetic in India, successfully. The procedure took place in January, and she is still adjusting to it completely.

Bijli was found and rescued by Animal Warriors, who back then had no experience with horses. They later found out hat she had a fractured left foreleg, which had to be amputated to save her life. They got in touch with Dr Tapesh Mathur, who runs an animal prosthetic limb centre in Jaipur.

Knowing that the organisation does not have the resources to reach out to people, documentary filmmaker, Rajas D. Paranjpe got in touch with ScoopWhoop saying,

They are doing great work. The NGO & the doctor are doing great work, and I wanted to spread the word. Since most of the time they do not have the resources to take their work forward, which is why I decided to make the video and spread the word about this homeless horse and how she was given a new lease of life.

Let’s hope Bijli is up and about soon, let’s hope this love only grows. And a shoutout to Rajas for making this video and spreading the word. Watch the video here:
