Every Free-Spirited Independent Girl Needs To Listen To This Song About Following One’s Inner Voice

Priyanjana Roy Das

Every independent woman seeks an adventure of their own. Not raised to be chained but destined to follow their heart, they have a brand of their own and run their own lives. Inspiring, bold, free-spirited and not the kind to bend down in front of anyone, they are the women who lead and live life to the fullest.

Dehlvees, a Delhi-based band recently came up with a music video which shows a girl following a butterfly into a forest. The video sends out a clear message about following one’s heart and letting the inner voice lead the way. Buoyant and trippy with the animations, it beautifully captures the mind of every free-spirited girl and takes the audience through the song.

You can watch the music video here:

Dehlvees is the child of Suhail Yusuf Khan (from Advaita) and Akshay Raheja (of Faridkot and Frequency fame). The origin of the word Dehlvi can be traced back to Mughal era when the poets and musicians who sang in the courts of the Mughal emperors were called Dehlvis.

“How often do we form opinions based on hearsay. Even right-thinking individuals lose their sense of judgment and go with popular opinion. Mahira, the second song from Dehlvees, explores a similar territory. It tells us to listen to the voice within and follow it. More often than not, experiences usually despised by all, turn out to be life-changing ones for some. While this holds true for anyone, it perhaps stands a little truer for women,” Dehlvees reveals.

We’ll leave you with an excerpt from the song:
