Powerful Poem Comparing Depression To An Abusive Boyfriend Will Make You Look At It Differently

Depression is a real illness. It troubles too many, using it’s parasitic nature to deprive people of their energy, appetite and happiness. However, not a lot of us talk about it. Most don’t even think it is an illness enough. “Get your act together, dude,” are the kind of phrases thrown at those who muster up enough courage to discuss their own battle with depression.

In a video shared by Kommune India, Nandita Kochar uses her slam poetry skills to tell people that if she personified her depression as an abusive boyfriend, may be people would notice more; may be her suffering would seem more visible to those around her if she had something more concrete to blame her sadness on.

Maybe now you’ll notice someone silently crying for help more carefully instead of telling them to ‘get their act together!’
