In a gruesome incident, a a 14-year-old girl studying in Class 8, was allegedly gang raped by five youth in Visakhapatnam, The New Indian Express reported.
All the five youths charged in the case are juveniles.
According to a report in The Hindu, the five boys were previously acquainted with the girl. One of the boys invited the girl over to his room for dance practice, where he was joined by four other boys, who then took turns to rape the girl in Vizag’s Gajuwaka area.
The crime allegedly happened on October 1st, but was reported only on Monday after the police got wind of it through local news channels.
The victim’s parents had allegedly refrained from lodging a complaint fearing social stigma and judgement, specially since their older daughter (the victim’s older sister) is soon to be married.
According to TNIE, the police has identified all five suspects already and have taken three into custody for interrogation.
