The woman, 27-year-old Meenakshi Valand, got a uterus transplant last year in Pune’s Galaxy hospital. The donor was Meenakshi’s mother who donated her own uterus to her daughter.

That means the baby is from the same womb which carried her mother.

Meenakshi took this decision after she went through two miscarriages and four abortions which resulted in a damaged uterus. When asked about how she feels, she said,

“I have wanted this baby and it is just a matter of few months now. I have to be very strong as this is my final chance of holding my baby in my arms.”
