India’s ace sprinter and a sports icon – Dutee Chand broke her own national record of 11.26 seconds – to clock 11:22 seconds in the 100m event of the ongoing National Open Athletics Championships in Ranchi.

She has been lowering her timing since 2018 and has gone from 11.30 seconds to 11.29 seconds and ultimately 11.26 seconds this April in Doha.

But with a new record to her name, Dutee is officially the fastest woman 100m sprinter in the country.

Dutee’s record timing came in the semi-final, which she followed up with another victory to clinch the title.

It has to be noted that the Olympics qualification mark in 11:15 seconds and while she is a bit far from that, the timing is not unattainable.

With many foreign events lined up, we hope Dutee reaches the qualification mark soon. For now, she can revel in the fact that she is the fastest Indian woman.
