To ensure and improve women safety in Puducherry, Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi went ‘incognito’ and conducted a midnight patrol of the union territory.

Covering her face with a dupatta, Bedi rode pillion on a two-wheeler around the city.

She seemed reasonably satisfied with the situation.

“Felt that Puducherry is safe for women even at night,” Bedi tweeted. She added that she had identified a few key areas for improvement, and promised that she would take it up with the police authorities.

Someone pointed out that Bedi had put herself at risk since she was not wearing a helmet. She responded to this, saying: “Not wearing helmet was a careful choice. Both wanted to appear vulnerable & wanted to see how we women driving a scooty at nite r looked at.”

Well, what can we say, we’re glad she’s going out of her way to make the place safer for women!
