At the 12th edition of Aero India, ace badminton player P.V. Sindhu became the first woman to fly LCA (light combat aircraft) Tejas as a co-pilot.
Only 23 years old, Sindhu currently holds the sixth spot worldwide. On Saturday, accompanied by Wing Commander Siddharth Singh, Sindhu took flight on the trainer version of Tejas’s fifth prototype (PV-5) for Aero India Women’s Day.
As per Times of India, Sindhu shared that she was honored to have been a part of this experience.
It’s a great feeling. I’m honoured to have taken this flight. The captain showed me a couple of manoeuvres. Special thanks to DRDO for making this possible. Women’s Day celebrations at the expo gave me this opportunity and I will remember this forever.
Sindhu is definitely no stranger to scripting history, and it’s great to see that when it comes to flying high, there is no stopping her, literally.
