Despite being in a largely patriarchal world, women have been and are, scripting history. Despite a skewed sex ratio in our country, many women have struggled and fought hard to make a mark in whatever they have chosen to do. History is proof that their contribution has transformed lives, especially when it was firmly believed that their place lay in the kitchen.
Meet the three women, that not only scripted history but proved their mettle in a field, largely dominated by men. The three rocket scientists who proved that ‘sky is not the limit’.
Nandini Harinath who is the Project Manager of Mission Design and Deputy Operations Director of MOM, Dr. Seetha Somasundaram, Program Director at the Space Science office and Minal Rohit, Scientist and Engineer, Project Manager, Methane Sensor for Mars, have been an indispensable boon to ISRO and played a pivotal role in India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, Mangalyaan.
And now a short film, is celebrating their success story.
In an attempt to celebrate their achievements, Emily V. Driscoll, a science writer and documentary filmmaker in New York, made a documentary called Breakthrough: Snapshots from Afar, which she directed and co-produced with Luke Groskin.
