Angela Merkel Says No To Gay Marriage, Only In Favour Of ‘Man And Woman Union’

In her first ever YouTube interview with Florian Mundt, aka LeFloid, German chancellor Angela Merkel said that she is not in favour of gay marriages because she sees marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

“For me, personally, marriage is the coexistence between a man and a woman,” she said.

Merkel said that she backed civil partnerships, equal treatment in tax legislation for LGBT community and fought discrimination wherever it persisted. She said Germany had come a long way from a point of time when people didn’t dare to come out with their sexuality.

Germany gave recognition to civil unions of same-couples in 2001, but they are not considered married and are not allowed to adopt children.
