Charlie Chaplin’s World War II Speech Makes Sense Even In Today’s Hate-Filled World

75 years ago, the world was in chaos. Europe (and a huge part of the rest of the world) was being ravaged as World War II raged across the continents. And when you look around at what’s happening all over the planet today, it’s hard to say we’ve made much progress.

Back then, however, the world had men like Charlie Chaplin. Mr. Chaplin, better known for his comedy role as ‘The Tramp’ released a satirical commentary, The Great Dictator . The entire movie itself is pretty brilliant, but there’s this one scene in the end, when Charlie Chaplin’s character (one of them, anyway) gets up on to the podium and makes a brilliant speech. Long story short, it’s the sort of speech that’s especially relevant now, in this day and age, with the way the world is going.
