Say what you will about about this year’s Academy Awards, the first 5 minutes were pretty entertaining. Neil Patrick Harris donned the role of the showman that he is. Anna Kendrick joined in to add some appeal for the internet crowd (Yes, the internet loves cats and Anna Kendrick). And Jack Black simply played himself as the ranting rocker.
You would think all this typecasting might make the show a little, for a lack of a better word, vanilla. But you would be surprised. These people are just that good.
