Groupon’s Handling Of The ‘Banana Bunker’ Situation Proves How Humour Is Key In Social Media

Raj Das

Out of the many first world problems we face on a regular basis, keeping a normal banana fresh might actually top the list for some. Which is why Groupon advertised this.

For those who do not know what the actual f*ck this is, it’s apparently called the ‘Banana Bunker’, a case that despite looking like a sex toy keeps bananas fresh for a longer time. But that’s not why we’re talking about this. Groupon’s social media handler knows how this would invite many jabs and jokes.

To stay ahead of the curve, they had witty replies for every comment that was posted on that picture on their Facebook page. And it was awesome!

This proves that comment threads don’t necessarily have to be full of ugly arguments, as long as there’s some humour to spare.

Well played, Groupon. Well played.
