For The First Time, This 102-Year-Old Woman Sees Footage Of Herself As A Young Jazz Dancer

Alice Barker, who is now 102-years-old, was once a chorus-line dancer during the 1930s and ’40s. She was part of what’s known as the Harlem Renaissance in jazz circles and had danced with legends like Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and yet, she had never seen herself on film.

Music videos back in those days were called ‘soundies’, and researchers Mark Cantor and David Shuff managed to dig out three of them, which they presented to Alice Barker in her nursing home room.

After watching the videos, she says, “It makes me wish I could get out of this bed and do it all over again.”
