Ebullient claims by a French scientist pronounce the presence of another portrait underneath the famous Mona Lisa painting!

Pascal Cotte, the erudite scientist has studied the painting for 10 years using reflective light technology and claims that there is a hidden portrait under Leonardo Da Vinci’s most celebrated work of art.

The scientist was given access to the painting in 2004, by the Louvre. He is known for pioneering a technique called Layer Amplification Method (LAM), which he used to study and analyse the painting.

As per his reconstruction, there is another image of a sitter looking off to the side. The sitter, however shows no traces of Mona Lisa’s smile!

“The results shatter many myths and alter our vision of Leonardo’s masterpiece forever”, he said!

The Louvre has declined to comment on Cotte’s claims because it was not by the “scientific team” that has been trying to decode the image for years now.

The claims have spawned a divided opinion on this 500 year old masterpiece.
