We complain about so many things: about the heat, about the cold, about traffic, about crowds, about everything. We get pissed off every time there’s a power cut. But have we ever spared a thought for those who have to make do without electricity?

Since you’re reading this article, I can rightfully assume that you’ve had the privilege of a good education. And we all complain about that too: why do we have to study? why do we have to take exams? Come to think about it, we never really stop whining.

But this photograph will probably make you look at life differently. Look at it carefully because this might just make you complain less and instead make you feel grateful for all the simple things in life.

This is 9-year-old Daniel Cabrera. The filipino kid lost his father in 2012 and soon afterwards lost his house in a fire. Now, he lives with his mother, Christina, and his younger brother, Gabriel.

The photograph was posted on Facebook by Joyce Torrefranca, a medical student who says she’s “inspired by the kid.” In another post, Joyce added: “I hope Daniel’s story will continue touching our hearts so that we will always be inspired and motivated in every situation we face in life.”

According to his mother, Daniel wants to become a doctor or a policeman when he grows up. Judging by the hard work he’s putting in, his efforts will definitely pay off!
