Character actor, Leonard Nimoy, who as Spock became a hero to nerds and sci-fi fans all over the world at a time when being a nerd was not cool, passed away today at the age of 83 at his home in Bel Air, Los Angeles.
Leonard Nimoy was not just Spock, but also a photographer, writer, producer, musician and director. And more than anything else, he was really cool with his fans, which is not an easy task when you’re the most popular character from Star Trek and always surrounded by people.
Nimoy suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Last year, he announced that he had the disease, along with this message, to his fans on Twitter.
Close friend William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series, tweeted this.
