Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 To 11-Year-Old Fan Fighting ‘Bad Blood’ Cancer

Naomi Oakes, a 11 year old girl battling with cancer, received a huge surprise when her favourite singer Taylor Swift donated $50,000 to her GoFundMe campaign. On June 25, 2015, little Naomi was diagonised with myeloid leukemia. The entire treatment required for her to be in the hospital for six to nine months.

Cancer stole every favourite moment little Naomi had planned for herself, one of which was to attend Taylor Swift’s concert in Phoenix with her best friend. The following video was uploaded on YouTube hoping to get Swift’s attention. Swift’s song Bad Blood was chosen by Naomi as her fight song.

Just two days after uploading the video, Swift’s donation and a direct message brought a lot of happiness into the life of the little girl who is still fighting cancer.

“To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.” Taylor Swift wrote to Naomi, on the website .

This was how Naomi reacted when she came to know that her favourite singer did not want her to attend the concert at the cost of her health.

“Taylor Swift’s donation was so generous that it required us to increase the donation limit on the platform,” said Rob Solomon, CEO of GoFundMe .

Previously the donation limit was $15,000 but it has now been increased to $50,000. One may or may not respect celebrities who wear shirts announcing that they are ‘Being Human’, but one simply cannot help but respect celebrities who care to step up like Swift did.
