This Beautiful Ad About A Refugee Student’s Journey Tells You Exactly Why Education Is So Important

When it comes to applying to universities for higher learning, one of the few unsaid rules is, if it has to spend too much money on ads, it’s probably not the best place. Perhaps this explains why ads for colleges are never taken seriously – most of them even end up looking the same.

But there are always exceptions.

Western Sydney University has been battling with an image problem. It’s usually seen as sort of a last resort for people who do not get accepted into better colleges. Their new marketing campaign tries to shed this image by telling success stories that actually changed lives. One such story is that of Deng Adut, a Sudanese refugee who was snatched away from his family at age six and was then forced to be a child soldier.

Watch his story and realize how education can be such a powerful tool for people who know exactly what to do with it.
