Apparently, the population of the town has drastically reduced from 2,250 to 1,300 with few babies born each year, leaving some of the houses in an extremely poor condition.

However, there is (obviously) a cath.

All buyers must commit to restoring each dwelling, which is in a poor condition, within three years at an estimated cost of up to €30,000 (£26,000).

They can sell their home after five years if they wish.

The mayor is confident that people will be interested in buying the houses because of the irresistible beauty of the town.

According to a CNN report, the mayor said,

According to media reports, the plan is to revive the town and reinstate its economy it once had with its maze of alleys and mural-covered piazzas, that died with time because of younger generations moving to bigger cities.
