But in all honesty, Chris is definitely more than just another actor – he is a super dad, an adorable husband, a sensitive soul, and about as close to perfection as you can imagine. 

And these reasons prove it: 

1. He makes fatherhood look like a yummy piece of cake. 

He is a very hands-on father and always makes times for his kids, be it post premiers or at movie sets. 

He regularly takes his kids for fishing, bakes dinosaur cakes for them, and basically takes our hearts away when he posts about his power naps with kids on Instagram. 

He even becomes a different superhero for them. 

2. He travels like a local with no superstar airs about him.

He once visited India with his wife and roamed the streets of Goa on rented bikes – yes, just like any one of us. 

Goa was a stopover on his way to mountain expeditions and he just casually posted about his trip on Instagram – not realizing there were a million hearts eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of him.

3. He is honest about how parenthood affects married life and his genuine words, devoid of any sugarcoating, make him oh-so-relatable. 

In an interview with GQ Australia, Chris openly talked about how parenthood makes it very difficult to give time to your significant other. 

My wife and I fell in love, had kids, didn’t really see each other for a few years, then fell back in love. Once you have children, every instinct and every moment of your time is consumed by that. You’ve got nothing for each other—so make sure you have date night even if it’s once in a blue moon, because most of the time, you’re just too tired and you’d actually prefer to sleep.

4. He talks about writing love letters to his wife because his father used to write love letters to his mother.

In the same GQ Australia interview, he also commented on how his wife has to stay at home more because he can’t always take time off work and he should write her love letters to express how much she means to him.

I don’t, but maybe I should. There’s no shortage of how much I tell her I love her. But I guess there’s no detail in it, why or how. My mum tells this story about when she was younger and had been married to my dad for years. He’d write her an articulate and detailed letter and she said, ‘I remember thinking, oh, wow he loves me, which is so stupid, because I knew he loved me’. But when it was said with that much depth, it struck a different chord.

5. When fake news of separation from his wife made the rounds in tabloids and magazines, Chris took to Instagram to shut the rumour mills once and for all.

6. He’s quick-witted when it comes to probing personal questions like the time he was asked about his love scenes with wife Elsa Pataky in 12 Strong. 

According to a Daily Mail report, Chris commented that his relationship of seven years was practice for his onscreen scenes. 

We’d been working on this relationship and the chemistry for this film for about seven years since we met. We knew this was coming, this opportunity, so we said, “Let’s build on this and see if we can put it on screen.”‘

7. He never shies from declaring how much he adores his wife. 

According to ET online, in a 2015 interview, he had this to say about his wife, Elsa Pataky. 

All of a sudden I had a greater appreciation for my wife, she kind of came into her own when we had kids. She certainly keeps me sane. I complain about things, she gets on with it.

8. He’s equally vocal about his love for his mother.

Chris actually credits his mother for getting him the role of Thor, as she read the part of Odin with him before auditions. 

9. His sensitivity as a father – where he wants his kids to be whatever they want to be – is absolutely endearing. 

Chris appeared on The Ellen Show to promote his film and commented on how his then 4-year-old daughter was jealous of her twin brothers because they had a penis and she didn’t. As she demanded to have a penis, he responded by saying ‘You can be whatever you want to be’.

10. He wants his daughter to have female role models who perpetuate the fact that women can rule the world just as easily as men.

His heartfelt post on n International Women’s Day was not only right on point but made us weak in the knees, yet again. 

12. He is a feminist and always credits his family for his upbringing. 

Today, when we still have even female celebrities shying away from the term and people being confused about what being a feminist means, Chris has openly shared his stand- and credited his amazing upbringing for it. (Honestly, is this guy for real?). 

He was asked if he was a feminist by RadioTimes and this was his response: 

Oh yeah, for sure. My mum’s a big feminist. I think that my views on things, as far as respect for women and so on, came from my mum. My dad has a very balanced and respectful view on a lot of things too. They were huge positive influences in my life.

13. He uses any platform he can to promote the need for gender equality in all things.  

When talking his movie with The Huntsman: Winter’s War with RadioTimes he talked about ‘badass female characters’ in the movie and why there should be more such characters. 

I think the balance has been tipped for a long time heavily in the men’s direction. There are seven to eight male superheroes and one female in there. This is the opposite. It’s exciting to be part of something like that. But it’s a funny conversation to even have because of course, it should be that way. Of course, it should be equal.

14. His sincerity as a person is undoubtedly one of his finer qualities, though he is pretty amazing overall.

He was a part of a theme party where he dressed up in traditional attire, only later realizing that his outfit could hurt the sentiments of some people. 

 While many celebrities and even people, in general, don’t respond sympathetically even when asked to, Chris apologized for his ‘thoughtless actions’ publically and without provocation. 

15. He loves being a part of wildlife and is also a proud parent of two pets. 

Chris and Else have an adorable furball and a pet piglet. And Chris loves posing with animals as well (time to quit being a human). 

16. And it’s not just his family, wife, kids, or pets that he loves – he also cares about nature.
