Margaret Mitchell was an American novelist and journalist who is also popularly known as the author of the best-selling novel ‘Gone With the Wind’ that was released during the American Civil War era. She wrote only one novel during her lifetime for which she even won the National Book Award for Most Distinguished Novel of 1936 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1937. Her novel was later adapted into a movie of the same title, which went on to become a classic cult film. Even after all the success, Mitchell was a simple, grounded woman who never let her fame get into the way of who she really was. The commercial success of her book caused disruptions in her life which is why, she had no intention of writing again but, by the late 1940s she was considering ideas for her new novel. Unfortunately, her dream of writing another book was left unfinished as she died in a road accident due to serious multiple injuries in 1949.
