SPOILERS AHEAD if you haven’t seen episode 6, Beyond The Wall.
So many favourite characters have died in seven seasons of Game Of Thrones that we’ve become quite used to it prepared for it now. The show just cannot surprise us with unexpected deaths any more.
Or can it?
Because Alan Taylor – the director of the latest episode, Beyond The Wall – has hinted that one of the main characters could die in the season finale and it’s not someone any of us is expecting!

Season 7 has seen a lot of reunions, including one between Arya and Sansa Stark. And while they were happy to meet each other after close to 6 seasons in the wilderness, things have gone sour between the two sisters.
Up until this point, we were thinking that it would be Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish – the one pitting the Stark kids against each other – who would most likely die. But it could very well turn out that’s not the case.
Because according to Taylor, it could be either Arya or Sansa!

In a recent interview with Huffington Post, Taylor inadvertently suggested that it could be game over for one of the Stark sisters in the season finale.
“I love the fact that the tables do turn back and forth between them; it really is a shifting back and forth of power between them in those scenes we had. I love the fact that these two come back, and I just wanted to give the impression, as much as possible, that one of them is going to die. But you’re not sure which one.”
Well, if you go through that again, he used the words ‘wanted to give the impression’ so maybe we’re reading too much into this.
But then Taylor also said this: “Arya is certainly lethal and sort of threatening, but when Sansa sends Brienne away, who is Arya’s natural protector, something is coming very soon between them, and it will be violent but surprising.”

Something threatening, something violent, something surprising… Wow, that is so cryptic!
And in Game Of Thrones lingo, that could very well mean death.
Valar morghulis and all that, yes, but Arya and Sansa CANNOT die. We really hope this is just ol’ Taylor building up the hype ahead of Monday’s much-awaited season finale. Fingers crossed!
