After delivering a series of hits with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika Padukone has now joined Meghna Gulzar in her latest venture Chhapaak.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi, who emerged as a symbol of strength and grace after her harrowing incident. Campaigner with Stop Sale Acid, Laxmi was only 15 when she was attacked with acid for rebuking the advances of a man.

Laxmi turned her tragedy into a cause, enabling the Supreme Court to move the government (state and central) to regulate the sale of acid. Her inspiring journey of courage forms the base of Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, starring Deepika in the lead role, along with Vikrant Massey.

Deepika shared the first look from the movie, where she has been transformed to resemble an acid attack survivor named Malti.

It does appear that the team behind the transformation nailed the brief. Both Meghna and Deepika have delivered consistent hits in the past, and we hope the streak continues with this movie. The movie is currently slated to release on January 10, 2020.
