If you have read or seen The Godfather, you probably know who Mario Puzo is but, for the uninitiated, Puzo was an American author, journalist and screenwriter who was popularly known for his crime novels about the Italian-American mafia, The Godfather, which was later co-adapted into a three-part film saga directed by Francis Ford Coppola. He was honoured with an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the first film in 1972 and Part II in 1974.
