Here's some good news guys. A Chinese spacecraft called Chang'e 4 made history by becoming the first ever to successfully land on the dark side of the moon and we are damn excited about what images they have in store for us to see.
But before that, you should know that this is quite an historic event since no one has ever managed to land on the far side of the moon.
According to the state media reports, the spacecraft touched down at 10:26 AM local time (02:26 am GMT) and took 'close range' images of the dark side of the moon.
Previously, spacecrafts have witnessed the far side of the moon but none have managed to land on its surface up until now.
You see, the dark side of the moon is an unexplored, mountainous and rugged region which is why landing in this area is extremely difficult. This is one of the reasons why making a successful landing was a remarkable achievement for China.
The close-up photos were shared by China's National Space Administration (CNSA). In the photos you can see close-ups of the lunar surface that was captured.
1. This image of the spacecraft making a touch down on the unexplored region of the moon is surreal.
2. This is a satellite image of the spacecraft making a successful landing on the dark side of the moon.
3. Ahh! This image is certainly priceless. Now, we know what the dark side of the moon looks like.
4. This is the first-ever close-up shot taken of the dark side of the moon which can never be seen from Earth.
On that note, someone please take me to the moon.
