Pripyat city, the 9th nuclear city back then in the Soviet Union, was once a happening place with more than 50,000 people.

After the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster in 1986, radiation forced a major evacuation and the city was sealed off, turning it into a ghost city. 


Though tragic, Pripyat and Chernobyl became inspiration for the most sought-after and popular map Erangel, in the world-famous game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).

1. The School 

A central location in Erangel, the School is actually taken from Chernobyl, Russia. It also features the abandoned Pripyat swimming pool within the School area. 

2. Red Forest 

Situated near the Mylta Power Plant in Erangel, the forest has been inspired from Red Forest, Chernobyl that is surrounded by nuclear plants in the game as well as in real life.

3. Sosnovka Military Base 

A place popular for the good quality of loot available is actually a radar workstation in Duga, Russia, which functioned during the 1970s under the Soviet reign.

4. Mylta Power 

This place is taken from the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Russia. In the game, Mylta Power is a popular spot with a high amount of SMGs and also Assault Rifles.
