In association with INDIA GATE FOODS

Truth be told, we are all looking for ways to stay fit. Routinely exercising is a great way to do it but with our crazy schedules, who has the time? I have taken a lot of gym subscriptions and honestly, I’m more excited about my gym gear than going to the gym itself! Am I right or what?

Well, kudos to those who get to it and actually make it to the gym. But for the rest of the people like me, here are some simple tips that can help us stay fit:

1. Eat slowly. Because slow and steady, wins the race

Finally, being slow at something will actually pay off! Chewing your food slowly helps you chew it thoroughly. This, in turn, will make you consume smaller portions and also make you feel more full. In fact, the amount of time you take to finish your meal is also known to be associated with your body weight. Bet you didn’t know that, did ya?

2. Unhealthy snacks? Not today!

But how do you do it? Ever heard of “Out of sight, out of mind?” Yup! Trick your mind by storing unhealthy snacks away and instead keep healthy food items close by so that even when you end up doing some untimely snacking, you can at least watch those calories.

3. Must include some fiber-rich food

Food that is rich in fiber, increases satiety and helps you feel full for a longer time. It also helps you cut down on unhealthy snacking as you won’t feel hungry as often. Didn’t think that was possible, huh?

And if you are wondering how you can include some fiber-rich foods in your diet then think no more and say hello to India Gate Brown Rice! It’s simple to prepare and can easily become a part of all of your favorite rice recipes.

4. Drink lots and lots of water

Water? Really? Well, yes! Drinking a good amount of water helps boost your metabolism and also helps cleanse your body of waste. Water also acts as an appetite suppressant which means you’ll eat less. Also, drinking more water will prevent your body from retaining water so that’s how you can lose that water weight! Cool, right?

5. A good night’s rest

Stress is difficult to avoid sometimes and I get it, you have to pull off an all-nighter once in a while but just try not to make a habit out of it. Disturbed sleep and high-stress levels increase hormones which lead to hunger cravings and that’s a slippery slope with unhealthy high-calorie snacks waiting for you at the end of it!

6. Food or phone, take your pick

We have all made a habit of watching something while we eat but that’s just not good. It makes you lose track of how much you have eaten and hence you end up consuming more than your normal diet.

Now I know, doing all of these things together can seem overwhelming! Relax, take your pick and take your first step towards a healthier you.
