Picture this. After a tiring day at work, you get into your comfiest PJs and snuggle into bed. The AC is just right, you’ve got your sleeping whale songs on when suddenly, your peace is interrupted by deafening snores??!

Loud snoring has disrupted the lives of happy sleepers since the beginning of time. And whether it’s our partner or our dad, their thunderous snores have definitely pushed us to our breaking point. What started with saat janmo ka saath ended with sleeping on the couch and waking up with a sore back just to get some shut-eye.

So, here are 6 things you will most definitely relate to if you have a snorer in the fam driving you absolutely nuts!

1. You are sleep deprived AF!

After nudging them for the zillionth time, you’ve given up! Now you’re just tossing and turning in bed, waking up with sunken eyes every morning and feeling incredibly drowsy for the rest of the day. Safe to say, their snores kept you up all night!

2. Confronting them is a literal task because they could be offended, embarrassed, or maybe even hurt.

You’ve tried the subtle way and it clearly didn’t work! And now, all you want is for them to stop snoring so you can go back to bed and have a good night’s sleep without offending them and hurting their feelings, or making them feel attacked. Is that too much to ask for??

3. You can’t help but wonder if this is what it’s going to be like forever.

On day 40 of sleeping on the couch, you think about how naive you were when you thought that their snoring was just an occasional, cute little habit. It’s now time to say hello to back problems!

4. You literally have to record their snoring as proof because they are constantly in denial.

*look of utter disbelief* Who would’ve imagined that you’d literally have to sit wide awake in the middle of the night, recording their loud AF snores just so they can finally admit to it instead of staying in denial.

5. You have or are planning to bulk buy earplugs.

Or maybe even those neck pillows because who wants a broken back and a sore neck! Either way, you just want to block out the noises, and sleep in your own comfy bed.

6. You have googled ways to prevent snoring, and probably even tried a few on them but in vain!

Google might not always be accurate, (seriously google, can you chill?) but a sleep specialist will always be! The best option is to consult a sleep specialist and find out if your partner’s bad snoring is actually due to a sleep disorder like sleep apnea.

What starts with sleeping in separate rooms, might end up borrowing into your relationship. A disorder as serious as sleep apnea must be treated at the earliest to avoid disruption in both your and your partner’s day-to-day activities.

Also, contrary to popular belief, snoring might not just be a sign of a sound sleep. And this is what Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher are chatting about in their new Instagram video that helps raise awareness about sleep apnea. Check out their video here
