Few hours after “La La Land” was incorrectly declared the best picture winner by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway at the end of the gala night, accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, responsible for arranging Oscar ballots, apologised for the mistake.

Earlier, in a series of tweets, legendary actor Warren Beatty’s son Stephen Ira was seen defending his father’s mix-up while presenting the best picture Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards.

What actually led to the goof-up?

The bizarre incident took place when Beatty was announcing the final award onstage with Dunaway. He seemed to pause after opening the envelope and exchanged a look with Dunaway. It was because he was given a wrong envelope having Actress Emma Stone’s name for La La Land in the ‘Best Actress In a Leading role Category’. But before Beatty could do anything about it, his co-presenter, Faye Dunaway,  took the card from him and announced “La La Land” as the winner.

However, later during the victory speech of La La Land, one of the producers of the film, Jordan Horowitz, realised the mistake and announced that the award actually belonged to “Moonlight”.

And just when Steve Harvey thought the world has forgotten about his Miss Universe error in December 2015, Jimmy Kimmel decided to make a joke about it during the 2017 Oscars and blamed him for the mistake.

Here’s the video:

In contrary to what was given as an explanation on stage, there came another shocker from Hollywood Actress Emma Stone.

Going by a report filed by mashable.com, Emma Stone had a completely different version of the sequence of events. Speaking with media at the backstage, the report suggests that Emma was holding  her ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ card the entire time.
