Delhi police have just arrested a couple who would first lure women into letting them enter their house for in-home beauty services and then rob them. Yes, right under their nose, in their own houses! 

One can only imagine the horror on the faces of lone housewives of West Delhi who woke up to a robbed house post a relaxing facial by a beautician that they trusted.

The culprits are 18-year-old Anjali Rajpoot, a beautician based in Inderpuri and her 26-year-old partner Sumit Paswan, a manager at the Shadipur branch of 24 Karat Cash for Gold. 

The duo would go door-to-door asking women if they wanted their in-house beauty services. They would enter the houses, Anjali would apply face pack taking care to apply some extra on the clients’ eyelids and ask them to let the pack dry for an hour. Paswan would then move around the house and steal valuables. 

“The woman would instruct the customer not to move or wash her face for an hour for best results. That would ensure Sumit moved in the house freely searching for cash or jewellery,” Vijay Kumar, the deputy commissioner of police (west) was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times

The couple would then flee leaving the clients shocked and clueless.  

Their bluff, however, could not last long and the duo was eventually arrested by the Delhi police on Tuesday. The police claimed that they received two complaints of similar nature in past one month. 

According to The Times of India, the police tracked down a number that Anjali gave to one of the victims and recovered Rs 64,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh besides a television, air conditioner and other items from West Delhi’s Inderpuri area.
