How did the dollar, the peso, or even the rupee get its name? Chances are, most of the forms of currency we use today actually had Latin origins, at least in regard to their names. Some are a little more basic than others, like the Polish zloty, which literally means golden, while others have travelled through countless mutations before coming to where they are today.
