Coming with facilities like special cubicles and foot massagers, the Majestic Rajasthan Deluxe train was supposedly an exciting prospect until it got shelved recently.

Proposed to run on October 17, the Karwa Chauth Special train was supposedly a ‘dream holiday’ but came a cropper and didn’t quite fare well for the Indian Railways.

Deccan Herald

According to NDTV, the Karwa Chauth special will be scrapped, as IRCTC barely found enough participants and only 2 couples signed-up.

A senior official said:

Only two couples have booked tickets on it so it is as good as cancelled. We cannot run the train without occupancy.

The high fares could be one of the major reasons for the low turnout. The total fare would have costed a couple ₹1,02,960 in AC first class and ₹90,090 in AC 2 tier.

Apart from a massager and private cubicle, other facilities include a personal digital locker, single-seating sofas and free insurance worth ₹10 lakh each.

The train was to depart from the Safdarjung station in Delhi on October 14.

It would’ve gone on to visit historical sites in Rajasthan like the Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon ki Haveli, Gadisar Lake, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Amber Fort and City Palace till October 18.
