A village in this country is taking their devotion to cows to a whole new low – literally. Parents are scrambling to dunk their young children in cow poop in a bid to stave off ailments and because they believe it brings good fortune in life.

The people in the village of Betul in Madhya Pradesh follow this extremely unusual practise.

They believe smearing their screaming kids in cow dung will prevent diseases and illnesses.

This video from Rapid World News shows parents literally throwing their kids in cow poop, while older kids frolic in the faeces (good punk rock song name!). Watch and wonder!
