Fans around the world had been waiting for John Mayer’s new album with bated breath.

The moment is finally arriving after 4 years with the release of his new collection of songs on 14th April 2017. It’s called The Search For Everything.

So far the musician has put out eight tracks, three out of which seem to be about a lost love Mayer just can’t get over or forget – ‘Still Feel Like Your Man,’ ‘Moving On and Getting Over’ and ‘You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me’.

Everyone has an idea about whom he might be writing these melancholic, heartbreak confessions for – Katy Perry. A fact he pretty much acknowledged in an interview with The New York Times.

“Who else would I be thinking about? And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship.” Mayer said.

He also said, “There were times when tears came out of me, and I went, O.K., John, this is not about an on-again, off-again relationship. This is something more profound.”

Now that his playboy days are over and he’s turning 40, the rock man is looking for a change of scene; he wants to settle down. But not just with anyone; he wants to win back one special girl.

“I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.”

The breakup with Perry really seemed to hit him hard. He seems to want the pop star back, a fact proven by his serious and honest lyrics. Oh and he also said he wants a baby who can tour around and hit concerts with daddy someday.

In any kind of artistry, personal experiences play an important part; everything you’ve been through becomes your inspiration. Looks like John Mayer had plenty of that this time around. Let’s see how the album does. For now, you can listen to the song that’s getting everyone talking.

Even the pangs of lost love can become something beautiful.
