The ones that go downhill and the others that are almost as good as the original, if not better; like the remakes of Devdas. If directed well, remakes aren’t all that bad. In fact, they can prove to be quite entertaining while keeping the nostalgia element intact. Here are some Bollywood movies that should be remade.
1. Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!
It’s safe to assume that every Bollywood fan would love to see this movie in a new avatar. Maybe the pomeranian Tuffy can be replaced by a beautiful Siberian Husky.
2. Dil Toh Pagal Hai
With it’s elaborate dance sequences and a love triangle, we just couldn’t get enough of this film! A contemporary twist to the plot would make for a nice movie, don’t you think?
3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Personally, I would love to see a remake of this with Saeed as the grown up Anjali and Aryan Khan playing the lead role instead of SRK. Directors, are you listening?
4. Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar
A cult movie of the 90’s, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’s plot is something that our generation will relate to extremely well. Maybe the overly dramatic scenes can be shortened in the remake and a more popular sport, like cricket can replace cycling.
5. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S
With the same movie plot, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S could be totally entertaining if the original Bhai, Salman Bhai could be considered for its lead role.
6. Darr
A movie that was quite ahead of its time, Daar would be great as a remake. To make it more contemporary, maybe the movie can start with a social media stalker who then turns into a real-life stalker.
7. Dabangg
If anyone ever decides to remake this movie, that person should definitely consider starring a female actor in the lead role. The entire plot of this movie can shift to suit a female lead character, something on the lines of Inspector Chandramukhi Chautala from the Hindi T.V show F.I.R
8. Delhi Belly
While the movie is perfect just the way it is, if someone does decide to remake it, maybe the focus of the movie could shift to Mumbai. That should be super interesting, don’t you think?
9. Tere Naam
Minus the atrocious hairstyle, the plot of the movie is not half that bad. If packaged properly, the remake will have millions thronging to the movie halls.
10. Devdas
Even though the original has been remade twice, once by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and once by Anurag Kashyap, the fact that two different directors at two different times, with two different set of actors and approach, could recreate magic with the same plot only goes on to show that the story of Devdas will stay relevant forever.
