For some time now, the terrorists of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) have been striking fear in the hearts of the people. But there’s one woman in Iraq who’s taking on these very terrorists and giving them a taste of their own medicine. The terrorist organisation killed her husband, her father, and three brothers, but this lady doesn’t believe in sitting back. She cuts her enemies’ heads, burns their bodies and even cooks them up.
Wahida Mohamed, popularly known as Um Hanadi, is 39 years old and leads a troop of 70 armed men in Iraq, that helps the government fight against ISIS.
It was in 2004 that Um Hanadi took up arms against ISIS. She began working with Iraqi security forces and formed a coalition. Soon, the ISIS turned their attention towards her and killed her first husband and her father. They didn’t even spare her sheep, her dogs or her birds. When she remarried, they killed her second husband as well. They also tried to kill her by planting car bombs outside her home six times, but each time she has managed to escape.
In an interview with CNN, she said:
“Six times they tried to assassinate me. I had shrapnel in my head and legs, and my ribs were broken. But all that didn’t stop me from fighting.”
The woman, who describes herself as a housewife, has pictures of herself holding severed heads on her Facebook page. She has led her troop into a number of battles against the ISIS. Her ways are just as brutal as that of the Islamic State. And she speaks proudly about her encounter with the ISIS fighters:
“I fought them. I beheaded them. I cooked their heads, I burnt their bodies.”
One may criticise her violent ways, but when nothing else is working, it’s people like Um Hanadi who are protecting her people from the horrors of ISIS.
