Seeing the artist Chandra Shekhar Prabhakar being trolled incessantly, a journalist shared his story on Twitter, informing people about his struggles.
This 'museum' has become a butt of jokes and understandably so, given the quality of most of the wax statues. But since I have personally known the 'artist' during a short stay in Ludhiana, I would like to share something that might make you troll him a bit less 😀 https://t.co/D358lJTQTS— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) April 2, 2018
She further added that he had a heart surgery back in 2005 and started making wax statues to keep himself engaged.
Chandra Shekhar Prabhakar is a 71 yr old man who took up this hobby way back in 2005 after a heart surgery. His motive was to keep himself engaged as he could no longer manage his business and handed over the reins to his children. He is a spirited man and very inspiring— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) April 2, 2018
It's a private museum funded completely by him and all the statues are made by 2D pictures that he owns.
It's his private museum. He pays everything from his pocket. Of late, he has started charging Rs 100 as entry fee to meet his expenses. In this industrial city with hardly any recreational options, it gets a decent footfall. Above all, it brings him satisfaction 😊— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) April 2, 2018
He knows ppl mock his work. But he is quite right in saying that his work can't be compared to professionals since he makes statues only using the 2D photographs he has. Anyway, hats off to him, he's doing it all alone with no rewards for 20 yrs now! That's all I wanted to share— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) April 2, 2018
After Swati posted his story, support started pouring in for the artist.
It is a very old museum in Ludhiana. ANI’s timing is quite laughable sometimes that too without any news point or something new— Divya Goyal (@divya5521) April 2, 2018
That's quite inspirational— ♏ (@brokesilver) April 2, 2018
There is a story behind everything! Fantastic. We know only how to mock genuine efforts, forgetting many times that people are doing it at half the resources.— Amar (@synapse_doc) April 2, 2018
There is passion in his wax statues!— [email protected] (@TSRBLR1) April 2, 2018
Are we on social media too quick to judge?
Everyone goes through struggles in life and some of them try to overcome by following their passion. They need not turn out to be the best, but they pour all their heart into it and that's perhaps the most important thing.
