Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and Badminton player Saina Nehwal who recently gave financial assistance to the families of martyred CPRF jawans have now come under Maoist threat.
CPI(Maoist) Bastar south sub-zonal bureau has issued a pamphlet asking them and other celebrities to not help CRPF jawans.
“We condemn the financial assistance given to the families of CRPF jawans killed in PLGA attacks. We appeal to famous figures, film actors, sportspersons and celebrities to stand with the revolution and poor people. Stand against police atrocities and human rights violations,” the pamphlet which were circulated during the week-long anniversary of the Naxal movement, reports ANI News.
In March, actor Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 9 lakh each to the families of the 12 CRPF personnel who were killed in a recent Naxal ambush in Chhattisgarh.
Officials said, soon after the incident, the actor approached the Union Home Ministry with a request to obtain the bank account numbers of the family members of the jawans who were killed in the March 11 ambush as he wanted to make a monetary donation to them.
Kumar also proposed Bharat Ke Veer, a mobile application through which people can extend financial support to the families of the killed soldiers which was later approved by the government.
Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal also donated Rs six lakhs - Rs 50,000 each to the families of the 12 Central Reserve Police Force jawans.
